Smiling Wyvern Press is an imprint of a small, independent German publisher with a catalogue that spans fantasy, fairy tale adaptations, crime fiction, children’s books, and selected non-fiction titles.
Our main focus lies in fantasy. We publish epic and urban fantasy for mature readers, alongside a small selection of titles for young adults. Several of these works are currently in translation and will be released in English over the coming years.
We also publish classic cat stories — short fiction collections inspired by a long literary tradition. Some of these stories were originally written in English by British or American authors; others are English-language editions of well-received German titles. We publish them simply because we love cats.
Why translations? Because stories travel. A powerful narrative can cross languages, cultures, and borders, and the desire to be drawn into a compelling story is universal.
And why fantasy and fairy tales? Because imagination knows no boundaries. Fantasy worlds are shaped by creativity alone, and they invite readers to explore new perspectives, ideas, and possibilities.
